Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn (1949-1955)

The Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn was produced from 1949 to 1955 as a 4-door full-size luxury car with a sedan body style. It was one of the first Rolls-Royce models to feature a standard steel body, a response to public demand for a more readily available option. The Silver Dawn closely resembled the Bentley MkVI, with the primary difference being the replacement of the Bentley front grille with the iconic Rolls-Royce grille. This model should not be confused with the later Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn, produced from 1995-1998.

The Silver Dawn was powered by a 6-cylinder in-line engine, initially with a 4.25-litre capacity, which was later increased to 4.5 litres in 1951. A total of 760 units were produced, making it a relatively rare and highly sought-after classic. Most of the production cars featured the Standard Steel Sports Saloon bodywork, though some were coachbuilt with custom bodies.
