This Prestige Parts Inlet Tappet (Part Number RE15169-X) fits Rolls-Royce and Bentley models from 1946 to 1957.
The tappet is a mechanical component that converts the rotation of the camshaft into vertical motion to open and close an inlet valve. This product is a replacement for the graded tappets once supplied by Rolls-Royce Motorcars Limited but now no longer available. They were originally supplied color coded and varied in size from 1.18675 to 1.18825 inch. The engineer would order the size to suit his engine. Prestige Parts exhaust and inlet tappets are made to one size (1.190 inch), to suit all engines and require grinding to suit. to avoid excess wear these tappets should only be used with in conjunction with a Prestige Parts Camshaft.
