Fitting Instructions - Piston Rings and Top Compression Rings
Piston Rings & Top Compression Rings - Identification & Ring Gaps
Centre and top compression rings are different and must be fitted correctly. There may be one centre compression ting (pistons with 3 rings) or two (pistons with four rings). The centre compression ring is identified by a small dot impressed into one side of the ring. This ring is chamfered at the lower inner edge and must be fitted with the dot facing upward. The top compression ring is unchamfered and may be fitted either way up.
Top and centre rings should be fitted with the gaps staggered. Ring gaps should be between 0.015 – 0.025” (0.38 – 0.64mm)
