Fitting Instructions – Upper Bearing Assembly GB2620-X & King Pin Kit R7269KIT-X
The inner race included in the upper bearing assembly GB2620-X incorporates longer needle rollers than the original bearing to provide superior load distribution across the contact face of the outer race.
The vertical position of the inner race assembly is determined by a measurement taken from the top of the outer bearing race to the top of the needle roller, once the outer race is fully home:
The top of the outer race must be fully home against the lip inside the stub axle before this dimension is measured.
There are two types of GB2620-X bearing race in circulation. The original bearings were equipped with needle rollers that were 0.22” (5.5 mm) in height. Later designs include rollers that are 0.27” (6.97 mm) in height. Provided the adjustment parameters are followed, there is no significant difference in the efficacy in either type.
For bearings with 0.22” (5.5 mm) Rollers:
The dimension from the top of the outer race to the top of the needle roller should be 0.430-0.480” (10.9-12.2 mm). If this dimension is 0.481-0.515” (12.2-13.0 mm), one 0.040” (1.0 mm) adjusting washer should be added between the oil trough and inner race. If this dimension exceeds 0.515” (13.0 mm) two adjusting washers should be added.
For bearings with 0.27” (7 mm) Rollers:
The dimension from the top of the should be between 0.402-0.453 (10.2-11.5 mm). If the dimension is 0.454-0.484” (11.6-12.3 mm), one 0.040” (1.0 mm) adjusting washer should be added between the oil trough and inner race. If this dimension exceeds 0.484” (12.3 mm) two adjusting washers should be added.
