Matt looks at the different Rolls-Royce & Bentley Oil Filters & their model applications.
There are the two oil filters for the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow range. The earlier type, which is actually also used on Bentley S Types and Rolls-Royce Silver Clouds is part number RH10003. As you can see it has a paper element filter.
This is housed in a bowl with a bolt all the way through and there are some seals that you get in the kit as well which you will need to install it. You will reuse the spring and the seal housing. Originally they used a cork seal whereas this one is a rubber one. You also get a sump plug washer in this kit as well.
In 1977 / 1978 when they moved over to the Silver Shadow II they changed the type of Oil Filter to this spin on Oil Filter which is part number UE40893. This one is the Prestige Parts version and it is identical to the original one.
There are a few Oil Filters which will fit, one key thing about this one is that internally it has a non return valve inside which is just like the original ones. So these Oil Filters can actually be fitted all the way from the Silver Shadow II all the way up to current cars on the production line including the Mulsannes, the Brooklands and even the V8 engines still use the same Oil Filter. So that range of Oil Filters goes all the way from 1955 to current cars.
